Cumbria Kids Record Song For NHS Charity

Twenty one children from Cumbria’s Harmonic Minor choir have recorded a cover of Sir Paul McCartney’s ‘Love Song To The Earth’ in their homes to help raise funds for the NHS.

The Harmonic Minor are a childrens’ choir based in North Cumbria who worked remotely at home to record themselves singing on their phones.

The project was initiated by the choir’s director Gill Wadeson who wanted to give the children a project to work on from their homes to inspire and reconnect them during the lock down.

The children were especially keen to help the NHS heroes working everyday to fight COVID-19.

“I wanted to help children in the choir isolating at home to reconnect with one another and give them something fun to do through music during the lockdown,” said Gill, the choir’s director. “To create a positive and lasting memory during such unusual and challenging times and raise whatever funds we can to say thank you to those helping us during this time.”

The choir aims to raise £1,000 for NHS Charities Together, on their Just Giving page where you can donate.

Local Producers In Cumbria

Gill sought the help of two local creative businesses to help bring the project to life.

Andris at Heavy Rain Sound Studio in Kendal put all the kids recordings together into the single track, giving it a professional studio finish.

“It was challenging to recreate a Sir Paul McCartney song from scratch remotely during a pandemic, but also one of the most honourable; especially to raise funds for the NHS.”

Naik Media, a video production company in Bowness-on-Windermere created the video with all the footage sent in by the children.

“We had such a brilliant time working with Gill on the project,” said Adrian, founder of Naik Media. “The children’s work on this was incredible, and we hope the video helps convey the message and inspiration we felt upon hearing the song.”

About the Song

‘Love Song To The Earth’ was originally penned and recorded by a collaboration of artists including Sir Paul McCartney and
Natasha Bedingfield. It was written to inspire people across the world to urge leaders to act on climate change and on
all matters to keep the planet safe.
