SEO Tips for Small Business | Social Media Pt I – An Integrated Blog

Naik Media | Cumbria SEO – Just like this blog you’re reading this on right now, your own blog can be a very useful tool for improving your site’s SEO.  It enriches your content, provides internal links to your other webpages, and provides a platform where you can include content and links to others’ sites (more on link-backs coming soon!).

Naik Media’s own blog is simply an extension of the website – it’s just another page, hence the address:

Some blogs are a subdomain of their main site, which allows them to have a Content Management System included in a site designed off site.

So, if your site is hosted by a platform such as WordPress (like ours), you can have it as just another page.  If you have a web-designer who has created a site for you, having a subdomain blog will allow you to upload your own content and edit this part of your website yourself.  Talk to your web-designer about integrating a blog into your website.

Why you need an integrated blog –

1. Richer Content –

So your website concisely explains your business and has all the functionality required for your customers to interact with it, but there is always more for your to share with your customers than you can fit on the site.  Or maybe you want to add a more personal touch to your site.

A blog is an ideal platform for this.  Naik Media uses this blog to let people know what we’ve been up to, share geeky views on video production, and providing valuable, wonderful, and brilliant SEO tips.

2. Internal & External Links –

Links to and from your blog really make a huge difference when it comes to how search engines rank you.  Take the time to go through your blog and include links to your other pages, and also to other peoples websites.  Take a look at one of our posts to see how we accomplish this.

3. Platform For Guest Posts –

Guest posts are the real ignition for blogs and increased web traffic.  Having another business/colleague/customer sharing information on your blog and vice versa will expand your reader base, and increase your internal and external links too.
