The Value of Texture
There’s a lot of pseudoscience about what gets more likes on Facebook and Instagram. They normally mention colours, filters, and texture.
Oh, and sometimes they mention good content, but not often enough!
Let’s look at texture for now, because this is one that is quite relevant for most visual media.
Our eyes are naturally drawn to areas of high contrast, and for this reason texture is a useful tool to get people’s eyes to stick as they scroll through their feed.
What’s more engaging: a plate of food on a plain white top or on a rustic wooden table?
